Currents is an annual group exhibition showcasing work by recent graduates from art academies in Belgium, Germany, and the South Netherlands. Organized by Marres Maastricht and Jester in Genk, the exhibition is curated by a young team, selecting pieces from newly graduated artists in the region.
This initiative serves as a platform for emerging artists and curators, focusing on networking and professional development. Marres and Jester share the goal of fostering an international infrastructure for talent development. The exhibition is complemented by an extensive guidance program, including training sessions and workshops aimed at enhancing the professional skills of participating artists and curators.
Since its inception, ten editions of Currents have contributed to the flourishing of emerging artists and curators, featuring 150 exhibited works and the involvement of 25 promising international curators.
