Explore Maastricht's eight quarters
Maastricht can be divided into eight districts, each with its own character: the inner city, Wyck, Céramique, the Sphinx Quarter, the Jeker Quarter, the Stokstraat Quarter, the Staten Quarter and Sint Pieter. Take your time to get to know these quarters and enjoy the city's versatility.
Wyck
Wyck, pronounced 'Wiek', is known as one of Maastricht's most charming districts. You are immediately surprised by this characteristic part of Maastricht when you walk towards the city centre from Central Station. You'll find historical buildings, vintage shops and other shops from local entrepreneurs, galleries and nice restaurants and cafés.

Sphinx Quarter
In recent years, this district has been regenerated from an industrial area into a vibrant place full of innovations and hotspots. Vacant factory buildings here have been given special repurposing as film theatres, pop venues and hotels, among others. Here you will also find the Bassin, Maastricht's old harbour.
