The tunnel system of Zonneberg Caves has been a magnet for visitors since the early 1900s, but also for artists who were invited during this period to make beautiful charcoal drawings and sculptures in the walls of the cave.
These works were the main theme of the tour. More than a hundred years later we follow the route of the past as much as possible and look for the various works of art and advertisements from that time.
An exclusive highlight has recently been added to the route that has recently become accessible to the public. Hidden deep in the cave system is the 'Museum', where you can find works that undoubtedly appeal to the imagination. Such as a meter-long Mosasaurus clad in the marl and a charcoal version of the famous Night Watch in its actual size! The latter was recently completely restored. Impressive to see, but just as impressive is the story in which the Maastricht Underground guide takes you with a lot of enthusiasm!
