An enthusiastic Official Maastricht Guide walks with you along special defenses and military monuments and over the city walls, where the history becomes tangible. For centuries, these fortifications that protected the city of Maastricht against sieges were almost continuously worked on. While walking, the tour passes, among other things, the Helpoort (oldest still existing gate in the Netherlands), the Pater Vinck tower, the Pesthuis, the 13th century city wall, the cannons and the main guard. Now beautiful monuments but in the past a dire necessity during attacks on the city. In short, an impressive tour along a fascinating piece of Maastricht history that goes back to Roman times.
One guide is provided for every 20 people.
