Heinrich does not actually work with watercolor on nautical charts, but with nautical charts. He models the bodies from the drawn line and the sea marks, water depths and land masses. Hüsch plays with what he discovers on the map. Using the model, he creates each individual sheet in a size of approximately 40 x 60 cm. He makes the smaller works (30 x 21 cm) with instructions for the entrance to a harbour. The maps of the Dutch Wadden Sea, the IJsselmeer and the North Sea and German around the Danish Baltic Sea come from various sailing trips that Heinrich Hüsch himself made in these regions. So they represent a very personal experience. More recent works are based on maps of the Aachen-Maastricht region.
