Jan van Steffeswert, a master woodcarver from the late Middle Ages, left his mark in cities like Aachen, Liège, Brussels, and even New York. The largest collection of his work, including the impressive polychrome crucifix from 1500, can be admired at the Bonnefanten Museum. This masterpiece was carefully restored in 2021.

During the tour, an expert from the Stichting Restauratie Atelier Limburg (SRAL) will guide you through the places where Jan van Steffeswert worked and lived. Discover where he found his inspiration, who his patrons were, and how he sourced his materials. This captivating journey offers an in-depth insight into the life and work of this remarkable artist.

SRAL is a renowned center for the restoration of art and historical interiors.
