Pieter Stockmans' retrospective exhibition “The Archive” offers a unique look at his multifaceted work and evolution in the world of porcelain from 1963 to 2010.
Pieter Stockmans opens his archive to the public for the first time with the retrospective exhibition ‘The Archive’, which offers a unique glimpse into his life and work from 1963 to 2010. The exhibition follows a chronological course and uses texts, audio and video clips to introduce visitors to the artist, industrial designer and craftsman Pieter Stockmans.
The focus is on exactly who Stockmans is, where he comes from and what he has designed. Visitors will see the evolution of his work and how the perception of porcelain has changed over the years. Art experts also share their insights on Stockmans. His versatile oeuvre includes installations with tens of thousands of crucibles, porcelain jewellery and precious keepsakes to keep alive, and the iconic Sonja cup he designed in 1967 for the Maastricht porcelain factory Mosa, of which 50 million had been sold by 1986.
