The Studio at the Bonnefanten offers a stage for solo presentations by artists. In her presentation, Sara Bachour (1988, Bologna - Maastricht) shows new and existing work about the internet, social media and new technologies such as AI. Her videos, sculptures and installations reflect on how we deal with the abundance of images and texts that surround us every day.
Bachour explores the boundary between the real world and imagination, inspired by online interactions and observations. Her work shows the search for meaning in a digital world, with examples including inspirational statements from a spiritual group and a lizard seeking warmth from a modem.
She is the fifth recipient of the Limburg Visual Arts Stipendium, which supports Limburg artists with a grant, a solo presentation at The Studio and a working period at the Jan van Eyck Academy, concluded with participation in the Open Studios.
