Kasteel Wijlre and Bonnefanten are presenting a comprehensive survey of the Marlies & Jo Eyck Collection. This exhibition marks the first time since its acquisition by Bonnefanten that this extensive collection, featuring over 140 works by 60 artists, can be seen in its entirety. What is special about the exhibition in Wijlre is that the art is displayed in the context in which it was originally collected: the Gesamtkunstwerk of architecture, nature, and contemporary art into which the couple transformed the estate grounds and the castle in which they made their home.
The exhibition pays tribute to the distinguished curatorship of Marlies and Jo Eyck and the inspiring connection they created, through their work, between historic and contemporary architecture, nature, and art. The monumental works of artists such as Ad Dekkers and Peter Struycken, which are permanently situated on the grounds of the Wijlre estate, will acquire special significance through the exhibition.
