Ana Tomimori & Carlos Guzmán - Coffee tastes like coffee

B32 Artspace, Maastricht

Join a workshop where you will discover the hidden stories of coffee through a sensory journey of smell and taste.

Ana Tomimori and Carlos Guzmán are hosting a workshop on ‘cupping’, a coffee quality evaluation system that uses specific methods of tasting and smelling coffee. Although ‘cupping’ is a sensory evaluation method with scientific roots, it often hides the history, methods and structures behind the coffee chain.

During the workshop, the artists invite the audience to learn about and question different cupping techniques, sensory and literary mechanisms, and more. The workshop is based on their shared knowledge as artists as well as coffee farmers in Colombia. Although the workshop is conducted in English, Dutch-speaking support is available to help with translation. The emphasis is on the sensory experience of smell and taste, breaking down language barriers.
