Preserving works of art was important to the Nazi regime. With the approval of the occupying forces, Reichsbewaarplaats No 9 was built in Sint Pietersberg. Consequently, on 24 March 1942, the first of a total of 780 works of art arrived, packed in large crates and transported in closed trucks. These works including, Rembrandt's Night Watch, Potter's Bull and Vermeer's Little Street were stored here until the end of the war. How is that possible in a cave with 98% humidity.Â

The North Caves, carved into the marl by block breakers with structure, harbour a special piece of history. This tour is mainly about the period of the Second World War.
