Retaining character - Marlies and Jo Eyck Collection
T/m 4 May
Wijlre Castle and Bonnefanten present the Marlies & Jo Eyck Collection, in which art, nature and architecture come together as a Gesamtkunstwerk.

Wijlre Castle and Bonnefanten present a comprehensive overview of the Marlies & Jo Eyck Collection. This collection comprises over 140 works by 60 artists and is being exhibited in its entirety for the first time since its transfer to Bonnefanten. What is special about the presentation in Wijlre is that the art is shown in the context in which it was originally collected: the estate with the castle residence and gardens, developed by the Eyck couple into a 'Gesamtkunstwerk' of architecture, nature and contemporary art.
This exhibition pays tribute to the distinctive collecting skills of Marlies and Jo Eyck, who succeeded in creating a harmonious link between ancient and modern architecture, nature and art. Works by Ad Dekkers and Peter Struycken, among others, take on special significance in Wijlre with the presence of permanent, monumental works by these artists on the grounds.
