Restobar MAMA

A few years ago, a green, free space emerged where you used to drive along the A2 at 120 km per hour. The Groene Loper has become an insanely quiet area, about 10 minutes' walk from the train station. At the Scharn roundabout, where artist Wil van der Laan's Maastricht angel proudly enjoys her view, you will find Restobar MAMA. The place for a day out with the kids. They can play in the fountain or climb in the Klimrex! According to Restobar MAMA, good food also brings people together and we firmly believe in that too. A fine menu with a lot of focus on fresh, fresh and tasty food for the kids. Also check their agenda, as they organise, for example, game mornings.

The Fireman's Canteen

As the name gives it away, the fire brigade used to be housed here. You can still see this in the large windows that served as gates for the fire engines. That makes a special place of The Firemen's Canteen, a nice industrial and raw character. Made homely by vintage furniture and lots of greenery. Another nice thing about this spatial arrangement is the fact that you can settle down here nicely with children. As we look around, we see a few children creating their own reading nook, a beautiful image. De Brandweerkantine's menu - like at its sister Café Zondag in Wyck - is varied with a lot of focus on fresh and vegetable dishes. Drinks are surprising and fizzy.

Lumière - Cinema

A few years ago, there was nothing to do in the Sphinx Quarter. In fact, it was a dark and quiet corner next to the centre of Maastricht that was better not to walk through. Now when you walk through the innovative and creative Sphinx Quarter, you can hardly believe it. Trendy hotels, a fancy furniture store and several fancy catering establishments. You'll also find Lumière Cinema, a beautiful film house located on Maastricht's marina (the Bassin). Here they run the current art-house offerings, but also offer fun children's programmes. The nice thing is, it comes with a fantastic brasserie, with a lovely terrace during sunny times. Kids proof: yes!

Monte Nova & Maastricht Underground

Time for a combination of adventure and sportsmanship. Indeed, on St Peter's Mountain you will find two top locations that offer both. At Monte Nova, you can settle down for a delicious lunch, with plenty of choice for the whole family. But in their 'garden' you can also play mini-golf. Isn't that convenient? If you feel like a bit more adventure, climb a bit further up the mountain. Here you will find Fort Sint Pieter and the Maastricht Underground caves. You can book the various tours in the ticket shop or online, but start here. The caves are exciting, educational and fun for young and old.

Mergelhoof nature playground

A true gem in terms of playgrounds. In fact, this playground is located against Mount St Peter. Which puts you in a valley of greenery and fun. With the beautiful marl walls on one side and an insanely adventurous forest on the other, where the kids can climb endlessly. There are also several pieces of playground equipment and there is even a pool for water fun in summer. Of course, you can also order all kinds of drinks, ice cream and poffertjes. Highly recommended!

Museum of Illusions

Also fun for the whole family: dive into the world of illusions together at the Museum of Illusions. Nothing is what it seems in this museum and that is what makes it so much fun. This is not a classic museum where you just look at things. You are meant to actively participate in the illusions yourself, which is why the museum is so suitable for both children and adults. Be amazed by optical illusions and put your senses to the test. Hours of fun guaranteed!
