The Schuilkeldermuseum in Maastricht offers a unique opportunity to step back in time and experience the atmosphere of the 1940s-1945s. Located in century-old kazematten, this museum lets visitors feel the threat of air raids during World War II. The museum is located in a place where actual sheltering was done, and the sheltering experiences are recorded. Showcases contain reminders of both World War II and the Cold War. Volunteers are on hand to guide visitors and tell them more about the exhibits.

The museum is open every third Sunday of the month and admission is free. Visitors are invited to relive history and discover how topical a bomb shelter can be in today's troubled Europe. The museum is uniquely located under a residential area, and during World War II residents dug their own tunnels from their cellars or gardens to the air raid shelter.
