The exhibition 'An ode' at the Maastricht Museum Museum celebrates the timeless ceramic art of Pieter Stockmans and the rich history of Maastricht ceramics.
The Maastricht Museum is proud to present the exhibition An Ode, a unique celebration of the work of renowned Flemish designer and ceramist Pieter Stockmans. As an industrial designer at Royal Mosa in Maastricht, Stockmans left his mark on the ceramic art and industry. Now he returns to the city that played an important role in his career and in the centuries-old ceramics tradition.
The exhibition showcases Stockmans' timeless creations alongside archaeological finds and ceramic masterpieces from past and present. From prehistoric pottery to Royal Mosa's finest porcelain and Studio Stockmans' contemporary designs. As a highlight, a new work by Stockmans, specially created for this occasion, will be shown, symbolising the rich history and future of ceramics.
This exhibition is a tribute to the material, the tradition and the master behind the modern creations. Be inspired by the dialogue between past and present and discover the versatility of clay as a carrier of stories through time.
